Accessibility

This site targets WCAG 2.2 level AA. Most of that is checked automatically on every build, and the build fails when a check does. What follows says which parts, and where the site falls short.

Effective November 5, 2026.

The standard

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. It is the level most public bodies in the United States are held to, and it is the level this site is built and tested against.

What is checked on every build

Automated accessibility checks on every page, at desktop width and at 375 pixels
How: axe-core runs against the built site in the end to end suite and the build fails on any violation it finds.
Color contrast of 4.5 to 1 or better on every foreground and background pair
How: a unit test reads the color tokens and computes the contrast of 32 pairs, so a brand change cannot quietly break it.
Every control reachable and usable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring
How: the focus style is set once globally at 3 pixels and is not removable per component; the end to end suite drives the form and the calculator by keyboard.
A skip link as the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page
How: the build check fails any page without one.
Touch targets of at least 48 pixels, except in the header where the floor is 44
How: set in the shared component classes rather than per page.
Every form field labelled, with errors named in text and not by color alone
How: asserted in the end to end suite against the real form.
The whole site works with JavaScript switched off, including the intake form
How: three end to end tests submit the form for real with scripting disabled.
Animation respects a reduced motion preference
How: a dedicated end to end suite loads every route with the preference set and asserts nothing animates.
Text reflows to 375 pixels with no horizontal scrolling
How: asserted on every route in the layout suite.

Where it falls short

A statement that lists no shortcomings is not worth reading. These are the ones known today.

The calculator is the one part of the site that needs JavaScript.
With scripting off it does not run. Everything it tells you can be had by asking: the form works with no script at all and Alex answers in writing.
Automated checks are not a person.
axe-core finds a known set of problems reliably and cannot judge whether a page reads sensibly in a screen reader. No audit by a disabled user has been commissioned for this site, and until one has, this statement does not claim one.

If you cannot use something here

Email info@offtheloan.com or call (442) 222-1751 and say what happened and what you were using. Alex reads these himself.

You will get a reply within one business day. If the fix is quick it gets done; if it is not, the reply will say what the plan is and by when.

You never have to use this website to get an answer. Everything on it can be had by email or over the phone, and asking that way is not a lesser service.
